How can I get closer to my Daughter in Law?

My son recently married an older women. He is 21, she is 30. We have no problem with the age difference at all. The problem is that her family is so different from ours that I find it hard to find common ground. I am a very family oriented, stay at home mom type. She is a liberated, women can do whatever they want type. I respect her view and feel that people have the right to their own opinions and that mine are not right and hers are not wrong,,, just different.We get along good but I know she feels that I am just to old fashion. She is expecting our first grand-baby soon and I fear that she will not want me to be as involved as I would like to be because of our differences. Does any one have any suggestions on how I can bridge the gap?
