How do Gatsby's parties (in the Great Gatsby) pertain to social cl?

Because those who had money in the 20's were so extravagant and decadent, it was all about living in the moment and enjoying life for the Lost Generation...so Gatsby's parties are big and ornate with notable people in society to further reflect the idea, that's what I got from the book anyways.
