How can i determine the of my hognose snake?

okay, so my husband found a hognose snake the other day, he is about a ft & a half long & he is SO cute!! we were wondering if there is a way to determine the of it by the tail or anything without probing it, does any1 know of an easy way to tell the of a hognose snake? thanks.
