Ok this is for ppl working in doha, kuwait or any other gulf country?

I have joined a constuction company here as a jr engineer. Its been 6 months since i am working here..i am thinking of asking for a pay hike from my employer. do u think its right?? am I sounding very ambitous...coz my GF says i need to wait atleast for a yr...to ask for something...coz i need to prove myself as a good resource. Wat do u all suggest.?? sincere suggestions required.
